Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 October 2026
Sayvia ("Sayvia", "we", "us") helps people talk, meet, read and learn across languages at sayviaai.com and in the Sayvia app. This policy explains what information we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. If you have a question, ask Sayvia Help (chat with Sally, our help assistant) or email info@sayviaai.com.
1. Information we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, phone number, country, preferred language and voice, and a profile photo or avatar if you add one. If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google name, email address, profile photo and a Google account ID.
- What you create in Sayvia: messages and voice notes in Talk; meeting audio while it is being translated, meeting chat, transcripts, recaps and recordings (only when a host starts a recording); documents, videos, notes and files you upload; study sets, quizzes and progress in Learn; conversations with Sayvia Assistant and the things you ask it to remember; and your glossary.
- Connected apps: if you choose to connect Google Calendar, Google Drive or another app (for example Slack, Notion, Trello, Asana, Microsoft Teams or Paystack), we store the access tokens, keys or links needed to act for you. These are stored encrypted.
- Payments: payments are processed by Paystack. We receive the plan you bought, the amount, the status and a payment reference. We do not receive or store your full card details.
- Device and usage information: your IP address, browser and device type, sign-in times and the devices you are signed in on (used for security alerts), and basic records of which features are used. We use cookies that are needed for Sayvia to work, such as the cookie that keeps you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies.
2. How we use it
- To provide Sayvia: translating and voicing messages, meetings, documents and videos, writing study guides and quizzes, answering your questions, and delivering messages to the people you talk to.
- To keep your account secure: sign-in codes, new sign-in alerts, spotting abuse and preventing fraud.
- To send you service emails (for example sign-in codes, receipts and meeting invites) and, if you have not turned them off, a weekly summary and product news. You can turn these off in Settings → Emails.
- To fix problems and improve Sayvia, for example by looking at error reports and at feedback you give on translations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your content to show you ads.
3. AI processing
Sayvia uses Google's Gemini AI models to translate, transcribe, summarise, write and speak. The text, audio, images or documents needed for a request are sent to Google to produce the result, and are handled under Google's API terms. We keep the results in your Sayvia account so you can see them again. AI can make mistakes, so check important translations and answers.
4. Google user data
If you sign in with Google or connect Google Calendar or Google Drive, Sayvia only requests the access it needs:
- Sign-in (openid, email, profile): to create your account or sign you in, and to show your name and photo.
- Google Calendar (calendar.events): so Sayvia Assistant can show your upcoming events, find free time, and add events (including Sayvia meetings) when you ask and confirm.
- Google Drive (drive.file): so you can pick a file from your Drive to translate or study, and save files Sayvia makes for you. Sayvia can only see files you pick or that Sayvia created.
Sayvia's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google user data for advertising, do not sell it, do not use it to train general AI models, and do not let people read it except when you ask us to (for example for support), when needed for security, or when the law requires it. You can disconnect Google at any time in Settings → Apps & memory, or from your Google Account's security settings.
5. Who we share information with
- People you communicate with: your name, photo and language, and the messages, voice and chat you send, are shared with the people in your chats and meetings.
- Service providers who run parts of Sayvia for us, under contracts that protect your data:
- Google (Gemini AI, and Google sign-in, Calendar and Drive when you use them)
- Render (hosting, in the EU) and Neon (database)
- Paystack (payments)
- Brevo or our email provider (sending emails)
- Cloudflare (relaying call connections)
- Sentry (error reports, if enabled)
- Apps you connect: when you ask Sayvia to send something to Slack, Notion or another connected app, we send it there.
- Workspace admins: if you join a Sayvia Workspace, its admins can see the workspace's channels and members.
- Legal reasons: when required by law, or to protect people's safety or Sayvia's rights.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your account information and content for as long as you have an account. You can delete individual messages, documents, study sets, memories and recordings where Sayvia offers a delete option. You can delete your whole account yourself in Settings → Security → Delete my account; this removes your account and content straight away. If you ask us to do it instead, we do it within 30 days. Backups are overwritten within a further 30 days. We may keep limited records we need for payments, security or the law.
7. Your choices and rights
You can update your profile, language, emails and connected apps in Settings. You can delete your account in Settings → Security. You can also ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete your account, through Sayvia Help (chat with Sally, our help assistant) or by emailing info@sayviaai.com: a person on the Sayvia team handles privacy requests. Depending on where you live (for example under the Nigeria Data Protection Act, the UK GDPR or the EU GDPR), you may also have the right to object to or restrict some processing, and to complain to your data protection authority.
8. Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, encrypted storage for connected-app keys, optional two-step sign-in and new sign-in alerts. No service can be perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and tell us if you notice anything suspicious.
9. Children
Sayvia Learn can be used by students. Children under 13 should use Sayvia only with a parent or guardian, who is responsible for their account. If you believe a child has given us information without that consent, tell us through Sayvia Help (chat with Sally, our help assistant) or at info@sayviaai.com and we will delete it.
10. International transfers
Sayvia is hosted in the European Union, and our providers may process data in other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
11. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If the changes are significant, we will tell you in Sayvia or by email.
12. Contact
Questions or requests about your privacy: ask Sayvia Help (chat with Sally, our help assistant) or email info@sayviaai.com. A person on the Sayvia team takes over privacy requests.
If you think someone else got into your account, report it at sayviaai.com/report. If your account was suspended and you think it's a mistake, appeal at sayviaai.com/appeal.
